Buck’s Harbor Market, built c. 1905, started out as an ice cream parlor and soon transitioned to selling dry goods and groceries. It is the longest running retailer in Brooksville. We offer everything from a full-service deli–complete with imported cheeses–to the basics you need in your kitchen pantry. Our kitchen produces healthy, hearty, homemade soups, stews and chowders–and some of the tastiest sandwiches around!
We are located in the heart of beautiful Buck’s Harbor in South Brooksville, Maine– the small coastal town featured in Robert McCloskey’s classic book, “One Morning in Maine”. Open Year round!
My summer subject is the landscape of the Blue Hill Peninsula, where I often work as a painter-for-hire, interpreting people’s special places in oils and watercolors. In winter, working in my Portland studio, I paint still life and people and places glimpsed during days of summer painting. Whether out-of-doors or in my studio, my artistic concerns are the same: light against dark, pattern and repetition, and sumptuous, harmonious color.
Sedgwick studio is open seasonally, please check my website for hours and updates.

Our 52 nd year
Virginia Sarsfield, a production hand paper maker since 1994 produces a wide variety of artist-grade papers drawing inspiration from the world around her. Bits of fibers from walks in the woods or along the sea often find their way into some of the papers. The result is a rich palette of handmade papers in many different shades and textures. The lampshades produced from her papers are one-of-a-kind and add unique luminosity to any lamp. Working closely with each client, we help match the size, shape, and paper of the lampshade with the designated lamp base to maximize the beauty and functionality of each finished piece.
Stop by the gallery to view our wide variety of lampshades and artist-grade papers, or to have a custom lampshade made for that special lamp.
Don’t forget to check the other artists featured at the Gallery:
James Dodds, Maritime Linocuts
Hillary Hutton, Weaver
Lou Charlett, Woodworker
