Kneisel Hall, in the coastal village of Blue Hill, Maine, is often called the “cradle of chamber music teaching in America”. The festival can trace its origins to 1902 when violinist Franz Kneisel, founder of the first professional string quartet in America, began bringing students to his vacation home in Blue Hill for summer study. It is a chamber music school, a ten-week concert series and chamber music advocate through many outreach programs. Check the website for repertoire and musicians.
