If you’ve always admired hooked rugs and thought you might enjoy making your own, then this class is for you! In this one day introductory workshop, you will make a 9” hooked piece with a coastal design that can be used as a trivet, wall hanging or pillow. A kit is provided that includes pattern on monks cloth and sufficient yarn to complete the pattern, but you get to choose from a selection of hand-dyed colors to personalize your project. This form of rug making is so fast and easy it is often described as “instant gratification with wool”. All finishing stages will be taught before you leave, and veteran instructor, Judith Hotchkiss, will cover everything you need to know to confidently complete your project on your own. Be forewarned, students are usually contemplating their next project before they have even completed the first!! Frame and #9 Oxford punches are available for loan during class and purchase afterwards if desired. The cost is $125 for members/$135 for non-members and includes the pattern on monks cloth and sufficient yarn to complete your design. Space is limited and pre-registration is required at https://woodlawnmuseum.com/event/punch-rug-hooking-beginners-judith-hotchkiss/ .
