Native American Stories with Allen Sockabasin

Allen Sockabasin, Native American storyteller and author of the children’s book “Thanks to the Animals”, will be at the Wilson Museum’s Hutchins Education Center, 112 Perkins Street, Castine on Thursday, August 20 at 2 p.m. He will be giving a presentation that will include history, stories, and music. Two of his sons will join him for the performance. Allen Sockabasin is a Passamaquoddy author, musician, and teacher. In addition to “Thanks to the Animals”, he has also written a memoir titled “An Upriver Passamaquoddy”. He is passionate about teaching and preserving the Passamaquoddy language. Allen draws on his musical abilities to write, perform, and record Passamaquoddy stories and songs. He has held many leadership roles within his tribe, including tribal governor, member of the tribal council, and director of child welfare, and he has also worked as a health educator.
