SUMMARY:Native American Stories with Allen Sockabasin
DESCRIPTION:Allen Sockabasin\, Native American storyteller and author of th
 e children’s book "Thanks to the Animals"\, will be at the Wilson Museum
 ’s Hutchins Education Center\, 112 Perkins Street\, Castine on Thursday\
 , August 20 at 2 p.m. He will be giving a presentation that will include h
 istory\, stories\, and music. Two of his sons will join him for the perfor
 mance. Allen Sockabasin is a Passamaquoddy author\, musician\, and teacher
 . In addition to "Thanks to the Animals"\, he has also written a memoir ti
 tled "An Upriver Passamaquoddy". He is passionate about teaching and prese
 rving the Passamaquoddy language. Allen draws on his musical abilities to 
 write\, perform\, and record Passamaquoddy stories and songs. He has held 
 many leadership roles within his tribe\, including tribal governor\, membe
 r of the tribal council\, and director of child welfare\, and he has also 
 worked as a health educator. \n\nThis event is free and open to the public
