Bagaduce Music Announces Benefit for the Music Community in Western North Carolina : “Give to Asheville Folks”

Blue Hill, Maine – Bagaduce Music, in collaboration with the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill UCC, will be hosting “Give to Asheville Folks,” a benefit for musicians and artists devasted by Hurricane Helene. Before the storm struck, Asheville was a vibrant hub for arts and music. However, the storm deluged the French Broad River watershed with 14 inches of rain and caused severe flooding in the downtown arts district. In response, local musicians traded guitars and fiddles for chainsaws and shovels to help their neighbors restore basic services, but they faced significant personal losses in venues, performance opportunities, and income.

On November 13, 2024, Bagaduce Music will provide a benefit event at the church, located at 22 Tenney Hill in Blue Hill, to aid these dedicated artists. The event will feature:

• 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Silent auction showcasing unique gifts and crafts from local businesses and artists. Bidding will take place in Dolly Fisher Hall at the Congregational Church. You must bid in person.
• 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM: Concert by Bagaduce Music songwriters and ensembles, featuring Maine folk and traditional music.
• 7:45 PM – 8:30 PM: Contradance with music by the Northern New England Ensemble. This event will be held in Fisher Hall, where participants can continue bidding on items, enjoy refreshments, and join in a contradance.

A suggested donation of $20 will be collected at the door. All proceeds will be sent to two worthy and vetted organizations. LEAF Global Arts Relief Fund (offering a matching funds drive), brings music and arts to schools in western North Carolina and ReString Appalachia gets quality instruments back in the hands of those who lost them due to Helene.
