Blue Hill Public Library will host a discussion, “Living with Alzheimer’s and Other Memory Loss: A Case for Long Term Planning and Advance Directives,” including a short film, on Thursday, November 1st at 5 PM. The event is cosponsored by Healthy Peninsula, Choices That Matter Community Partners, and the library, and is being held in observance of November as Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
The Alzheimer’s Association points out that while it is important for everyone to plan for the future, it’s especially important for a person diagnosed with a dementia. Early Care Planning insures one’s full participation in the process. The panelists will be Peter Sullivan, board-certified gerontological RN and certified dementia practitioner; Anne Donovan-Fortier, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Palliative Care; and Susan Ostertag M.D., Geriatrician and retired Hospice Medical Director. They will address when and how to have the conversations that support values and priorities along the disease spectrum.
There is no change for this event and everyone is welcome. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
