Kirtan chanting is a sacred practice in Indian culture that serves to free your spirit and bring inner peace through music. Kirtan in Sanskrit means “Narrating” or “Describing”. The mantras are sung in Sanskrit and are usually in the form of a call-and-response, with a leader singing a phrase and the audience singing it back. It doesn’t matter your vocal strength or abilities, the point is to sing from the heart. Instruments such as the harmonium, tablas, flute, and various string and percussion instruments are used as accompaniment. Shepsi will bring a Harmonium and Tambura to the event, accompanied by special guests on violin and guitar.
