Blue Hill’s Congregational Church presents “I Am My Neighbors Keeper” as the only stop in Maine of Avery Sharpe’s New England tour with his Double Quartet, on Sunday, October 12th at 4 p.m.
Mr. Sharpe on Bass, Andrew Wilcox on piano, Yoron Israel on drums, Tony Vacca on balafon/African percussion, Sarah Briggs and Kaila Graef on violins, Gregory Diehl on viola and Dave Haughey on cello will perform this new work.
Mr. Sharp composed this work to highlight our commitment to one another. The U.S political climate changed drastically in the past 40 plus years. In this age of greed, as Avery refers to as “IGM” (I Got Mine), basic human compassion has been eroded.
He saw the need to remind people that each of us is here on this planet for a very short period of time. It doesn’t matter if one has a religious or a secular approach, it all comes down to concern and compassion for each other. It is Avery’s hope and mission as an artist to remind everyone that we all are interconnected, and “We Are Our Neighbors Keeper”.
Tickets are available at the door for $20/adults and $12/students. If the price of entry is prohibitive, please reach out to Pastor Lisa at pastor@bluehillcongregational.org
