Author Event: Peaceful Parent

8/2/2018
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Blue Hill Public Library
5 Parker Point Rd, Blue Hill, ME, 04614

Dr. Laura Markham will talk about her series of books, Peaceful Parent, including the most recent Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids Workbook: Using Mindfulness and Connection to Raise Resilient, Joyful Children and Rediscover your Love of Parenting, at the Blue Hill Public Library on Thursday, August 2, at 7:00 PM.

Dr. Laura Markham has a PhD in clinical psychology from Columbia University, which, she says, was just the beginning of her education as a psychologist. Becoming a mother convinced her that parents are doing the hardest job in the world. Her children are now 26 and 22, and she talks about her experiences with them to illustrate how parents can raise self-disciplined, responsible, considerate, happy kids — without punishment. She says her aspiration is to change the world, one child at a time — by supporting parents.

Dr. Markham is the founding editor of AhaParenting.com, a website for parents of babies through teens. She makes frequent TV and radio appearances and has been featured in many publications from Parents Magazine to The Wall Street Journal. She reaches a world-wide audience with her online parenting course, and over 130,000 parents subscribe to her blog posts via email; many more follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Books will be available for sale and signing. This event is sponsored by the library, there is no charge, and everyone is welcome. For more information, call the library at 374-5515.
