Film Series: Maine Masters – The Maine Masters Project is a New England Emmy-nominated series of documentaries sponsored by the Union of Maine Visual Artists. It was launched in 1999 and has produced a series of compelling profiles of some of Maine’s most distinguished and often less recognized artists who articulate the importance of art-making.
Lois Dodd – was born in Montclair, NJ in 1927, is a New York City and Cushing, Maine painter recognized for her intimate, poetic, painterly approach to landscape motifs (including quarries), the nude and floral subjects.
Stephen Pace – (born 1918) fell in love with Stonington on his first trip to Maine in 1953. His paintings of lobstermen, a lily pond and his wife, Pam, tending the garden are imbued with the energy of early Abstract Expressionist roots. Nominated for a NE Emmy.
