Dr. Lee E. Frelich will share current research on a variety of methods that may be useful to control jumping worms in nursery or garden bed settings. Spread via transport of mulch and nursery stock, jumping worms convert the top 2 inches of soil into loose granules that are susceptible to erosion and that make it difficult for some native plant species to germinate and become established.

Dr. Frelich is Director of the University of Minnesota Center for Forest Ecology. He has authored 210 publications, including major works for Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press. His current research interests include climate change in temperate and boreal forests and large-scale fire and wind events in addition to earthworm invasion.
