The Bagaduce Music Lending Library will present “Symphonic Winds” with members of the Hartford (Connecticut) Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, July 25th. The concert will be held at the BMLL Performance Hall at 49 South Street, Blue Hill. Audience members are welcome to gather at 7 pm for wine and cheese with pre-concert music featuring Matthew Hill, violin and Barbara Hill, piano. The main program will begin at 7:30 pm.

Classical music of the harmonie winds tradition will be presented. Musicians will perform in an octet of wind instruments using pairs of oboes, clarinets, bassoons and French horns. This combination of two each of these wind instruments became a common practice during the Classical period. Composers such as Mozart and Haydn added pairs of winds to their string orchestras, beginning a tradition of orchestral instrumentation that carried forward into the Romantic and Modern eras. The evening’s music will include works by Mozart, Krommer and Grainger.

Tickets for the performance are $15 in advance by calling 207-374-5454 and will be available at the door for $20. All ticket proceeds will benefit the Bagaduce Music Lending Library.
