New members are invited to the Blue Hill Public Library’s monthly discussion group, “Readings on Race,” on Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 PM. October’s book will be Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson.

Just Mercy is an account of Stevenson’s coming of age as a young lawyer, a moving window into the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of true justice. Stevenson founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need. Books are available to check out at the library in advance of the meeting.

Surry resident Kate Mrozicki facilitates the group. Kate is a farmer who believes in the power of difficult conversations to change our reality. She got to practice those conversations during years of working for The Food Project in Boston and now raising small children in Surry. This event is free and everyone is welcome. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
