A Series of Night Sky events with the Surry Conservation Commission: Tonight and Wed. the 20th, starting at 5:30PM a showing of the Film “The City Dark,” by Ian Cheney co-creator of King Corn. Following tonight only is a documentary about light pollution, called “Roses are Red, LEDs are Blue” by Dwight Lampher. LED street lighting is proliferating everywhere. This program will discuss some of the problems of blue rich lighting and what color, cutoff and glare characteristics should be considered to meet current IDA dark sky criteria for community street lighting. Actual roadway LED light sources will be demonstrated showing the differences.
