The Blue Hill Public Library invites kids to join the “Inklings” book and movie club on Saturday, June 30th at 2:00 PM. Inklings explores stories of clever children who use their wits to overcome insurmountable odds. This month’s book is The Borrowers by Mary Norton and the film based on the book is The Secret World of Arrietty.
According to Youth Services Librarian Libby Edwardson, “Arrietty isn’t your ordinary fourteen-year-old girl – she’s small enough to make her home under the floorboards of a typical house, ‘borrowing’ what she and her family need from the giants in whose shadows they live. A young boy named Sho befriends Arrietty, but when adults discover the Borrowers, Arrietty and Sho must work together to save her family. Arrietty may be small, but the fun will be big! So make your way to the library for tasty snacks and one teeny, tiny craft.”
Inklings welcomes kids of all ages. The books and movies that the group reads and watches together cover a wide range of subjects and styles, and we encourage families to research them in advance and decide which are right for each child. For more information call Libby at 374-5515.
