Explore Outdoors! Storytime: Balsam Firs

11/29/2018
10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Blue Hill Public Library
5 Parker Point Rd, Blue Hill, ME, 04614

Julianne Taylor, education coordinator for Explore Outdoors! — a collaboration between Blue Hill Heritage Trust, Downeast Audubon, and Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust — will offer a special storytime for preschoolers on Tuesday November 27th, at 10:30 AM with a theme of balsam firs, and a wreath-making event for kids up to age 15 on Friday, November 30th at 3:30 PM.

At the storytime event, Julianne will talk about why chickadees, white-tailed deer, and a monarch butterfly seek out this special tree, read the book, Who Would Like a Christmas Tree? by Ellen Bryan Oled and Anne Hunter, and lead the kids in fun craft that celebrates the balsam tree!

Participants at the wreath-making event will make their wreaths using various native evergreen and berry species. Space is limited at this event in order to have enough materials for everyone, so registration is required and can be done using the calendar at www.bhpl.net or by calling the library at 374-5515.

Both programs are sponsored by the library and Explore Outdoors! and are free. Kids under 8 years of age must be accompanied by a caregiver at least 12 years of age. For more information, call the library at 374-5515.
