Free Community Cider Pressing sponsored by the Blue Hill Co-op
Join the Blue Hill Co-op and 5 Star Nursery for a Community Cider Pressing on Saturday October 17th. Bring your own ripe, picked and washed apples to the pressing along with empty, clean gallon containers and leave with fresh pressed cider! Tim & Leslie of 5 Star Nursery will combine all the apples together to create a “community mix” and run them through their commercial grade cider press. Unlike small presses, their commercial press will produce up to 4 gallons of cider per bushel of apples. Families should bring between ¼-5 bushels of apples each. Apples will be collected from 1-2pm, the pressing will follow. The amount of apples brought by each family will determine the amount of cider each family leaves with. Empty gallon containers will be available for purchase from 5 star Nursery for $1 each. Pre-registration at the Blue Hill Co-op is required. Please dress according to the weather as you will be spending sometime outside. We hope to see you there (5 Star Nursery- 853 Bay Road Brooklin, ME).
