The annual Brooklin Fourth of July parade will kick off a day of food, fun, and tomfoolery on Thursday, July 4.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m., forming as usual at the old Odd Fellows Hall at the top of Center Harbor Road. Floats, costumed marchers, bicycles, vintage and antique cars, horses and pageantry are welcome. Participants should plan to get in line by 9:30 a.m.
To sign up for the parade, contact Mike Sealander at mike@sealanderarchitects.com. There is no entry fee. Prizes will be awarded for the best parade costumes and floats.
As the parade forms, the Brooklin Town Band will play in front of Friend Memorial Public Library, starting at 9 a.m.
Barbecued chicken, hot dogs, corn, cole slaw, potato salad, watermelon and drinks will be on the menu after the parade at the Town Green. The Brooklin Youth Corps will offer carnival games for children and the young at heart during the barbecue, and a tug-of-war is planned.
The annual peapod races are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at Brooklin Boatyard. Men’s, women’s and youth races are likely.
Volunteers are needed to help out with the barbecue and games. Inquire at BrooklinBBQ@gmail.com.
