Derrick Semler and Mark “Bluesboy” Kanter.

Derrick Semler is perhaps best known as the original front man of locally legendary blues-rock band the N-Zones, a Burlington bar band whose heyday was in the late 1970s and early ’80s. These days, Semler is a grandfather who splits his time between Rochester, Vt., and Brooksville.

Mark Kanter started playing the blues shortly after hearing The Paul Butterfield Blues Band perform in the 1960s. Mark has been performing the blues since both as a solo artist and band leader as well as a sideman (harmonica) on other projects. He has opened for acts including Coco Montoya, E.C. Scott, John Mayall and Eddie Kirkland. He resides in Bar Harbor, Maine (having moved there from New York City in 1973.)
