All Day
Castine, Maine
Court Street, Castine, Maine, 04421, Down East Acadia

Bastile Day in CastineCastine traces its French heritage to the Baron de St. Castin. His marriage to Chief Madockawando’s daughter joined our French and Native American cultures-which he defended for more than a generation, with his Wabenaki allies from his base in our little town.

Come to Castine on the French National holiday to enjoy a day in the historic village, experiencing our Franco-American and Native American culture through music, food, film, lectures, re-enactments, children’s activities, French cooking demonstrations and village walking tours.
Wear white to our first annual Dejeuner en Blanc picnic with our long white table with local fiddle and accordion music. Choose your designer bag picnic basket with French delights- fun for all ages. Come early to run the Baron’s Beach & Beacon race. Then start the day with French Toast and stay to experience our history from the water, with Castine Harbor boat tours. Experience a pristine Maine coastal village “Under The Elms and By The Sea.
