Bagaduce Music will present a Lecture/Demo, Bluegrass Jam + BBQ dinner, and concert featuring the renowned acoustic music supergroup Mr. Sun at First Congregational Church of Blue Hill in Blue Hill, Maine on Friday, June 27. The ensemble, known worldwide for its inventive blend of jazz, Americana, and bluegrass, includes fiddler Darol Anger, guitarist Grant Gordy, Scottish bassist Aidan O’Donnell, and mandolinist Joe K. Walsh.

Mr. Sun is comprised of four accomplished musicians who have made significant contributions to the American roots scene. Darol Anger, an eminent fiddler and Professor Emeritus at Berklee College of Music, has released numerous solo albums and collaborated with David Grisman and Mike Marshall. He also founded the Turtle Island Quartet, Psychograss, and Republic of Strings. Mandolinist and vocalist Joe K. Walsh spent four years with the award-winning bluegrass group the Gibson Brothers before establishing himself as a solo artist and songwriter, in addition to serving as a Strings Department Professor at Berklee. Guitarist Grant Gordy, recognized for his versatility, previously performed with Dawg Music pioneer David Grisman’s band. Scottish bassist Aidan O’Donnell has provided accompaniment for harpist Maeve Gilchrist and numerous modern jazz musicians.

The event will feature a variety of opportunities for engagement throughout the evening:
– 4:00 p.m. – Lecture/Demo with Mr. Sun ($15 suggested donation, attendees are encouraged to bring instruments.)
– 5:30 p.m. – Bluegrass Jam with Bennett Konesni and a Bean BBQ Supper catered by Deer Isle BBQ (vegetarian and meat options available; pre-orders required via ticket link or by emailing library@bagaducemusic.org)
– 7:30 p.m. – Concert featuring Mr. Sun

The event will take place at *First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, located at 22 Tenney Hill, Blue Hill, Maine. *Due to popularity, this is a change from the original venue which was Bagaduce Music. All tickets will be honored.
