August Art Show: View Points

The Blue Hill Public Library is pleased to announce the opening of View Points, the August art show, on Friday, August 3rd, 5:00 to 7:00 PM. View Points features the work of thirty-two artists and celebrates the diverse points of view reflected in their work. The exhibition will be available for viewing from Wednesday, August 1st to Saturday, September 1st.

This highly anticipated event is an August tradition at the library. It includes abstract and representational paintings, works on paper, photographs, accordion books, sketchbooks and objects. The show is organized and curated by Marcia Stremlau, artist and former owner of Handworks Gallery, together with Deer Isle artist Susan Webster.

The artists are: Leslie Anderson, Margret Baldwin, Mark Bell, Louise Bourne, Lydia Cassatt, Susan Chase, Kyle Chick, Heidi Daub, Sarah Doremus, Lynn Duryea, Pamela Elias, Sarah Faragher, Jill Finsen, Roberta Greany, Missy Greene, Christine Guinness, Dorothy Hayes, Jill Hoy, Stuart Kestenbaum, William Irvine, Diane Lyon, Donald Mallow, Frederic Marsal, Caroline Mayher, William Mayher, Rebecca Haley McCall, Rosie Moore, Annie Poole, Marcia Stremlau, Susan Webster, Cynthia Winings, and Eric Ziner.

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of artwork will benefit the library. The Blue Hill Library is an independent non-profit organization that relies heavily on the generosity of donors to meet its annual operating budget. The show will be open for viewing Monday through Saturday in August during library hours, with viewing of those works in the Howard Room subject to the meeting room schedule, though always available 12:30-2pm.
