– Local artist Margret Baldwin will host a screening of the 2014 film, Exhibition on Screen: Vermeer and Music, on Thursday, February 28th at 6:30 PM. The second in a series of six art history film screenings at the Blue Hill Public Library, it will be followed by an optional hands-on workshop Saturday, March 2nd at 4:00 PM, where participants will be painting portraits inspired by Vermeer. The film screening is free and open to all, but registration for the workshop will for those at the film screening.
The film is a biography of Johannes Vermeer (1632 -1675), and includes footage of the artist’s finest pieces on exhibit in London’s National Gallery, New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and other galleries. The soundtrack includes live-recorded period music from the Academy of Ancient Music.
Margret is a certified art instructor with 25 years in the public school system and private teaching experience. She expanded her exposure to art and artists through her curatorial experience during eight years of employment at the Blue Hill Public Library. She has exhibited widely, and in the summer runs her neighborhood “Little Gallery” in Surry.
