On Friday, October 5th at 7 pm, The Grand continues its 80th birthday year of monthly screenings of beloved eighties movies with the 30th anniversary of the spookiest comedy of 1980’s- “Beetlejuice.” Thanks to the carelessness of a cute little dog, newlyweds Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin become newlydead! But before they can earn their wings, they must occupy their old house as ghosts for the next fifty years. Alas, the house is now owned by insufferable yuppies Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones. In desperation, the ghostly couple engage the services of a veteran scaremeister: a yellow-haired, snaggle-toothed, profane, flatulent “gonzo” spirit named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). Can the ghost couple team up with O’Hara and Jones’ gloomy, black-clad teenaged daughter Winona Ryder to defeat “the ghost with the most’s sinister plan? Find out for only 80 cents a ticket! With Sylvia Sidney, Dick Cavett and Robert Goulet. (1988. US 1 hr, 33 min. Directed by Tim Burton. PG-13.) Tickets for this General Admission presentation are only 80 cents a ticket in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Grand.
