The Blue Hill Historical Society was founded in 1902 for the purpose of preserving the heritage of the Town of Blue Hill, Maine.
The Society’s home and headquarters are in the Holt House, a historic house museum at the center of the town of Blue Hill, at 3 Water Street, at the intersections of Rt. 177, and Main Street.
The house was built in 1815 by Jeremiah Thorndike Holt. Adjacent to the house is the carriage house built in the 1990’s which offers a large space for items in the collection, a vault with historic documents, and a place to gather for presentations. We are open June 15th-September 30th, Thursday – Sunday, 1pm-4pm, or by appointment. We encourage researchers to make appointments ahead of time. You can learn more about us and our collections at www.bluehillhistory.org.
