Local authors Dan and Leslie Landrigan will present from their new book, Bar Harbor Babylon: Murder, Misfortune, and Scandal on Mount Desert Island, at the Blue Hill Public Library on Thursday, August 1st at 7:00 PM.
Bar Harbor Babylon is a collection of stories about Bar Harbor’s history, with a focus on the Gilded Age. Mount Desert Island has attracted scoundrels and scandals for more than 100 years. Steady as the tide, every summer brings a rush of summer residents from eastern cities to the island and nothing thrilled them so much as a good scandal, which are brought back to life in Bar Harbor Babylon.
Dan and Leslie Landrigan are the writers behind the New England Historical Society website. Since its inception in 2014, their blog–dedicated to the exploration and promotion of New England history–has hosted more than three million visitors.
