February Art: Open Air Arts Initiative

2/13/2019
3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Blue Hill Public Library
5 Parker Point Rd, Blue Hill

Nature inspired artwork by local school-aged kids will be on display at the Blue Hill Public Library for the month of February. The show is the result of the “Open Air Arts Initiative” held throughout 2018 by the Cynthia Winings Gallery, Blue Hill Heritage Trust, and the SEED Barn. A series of school and community arts workshops were held, in which kids were invited to go to local conserved lands owned by Blue Hill Heritage Trust, to make artwork inspired by nature. New this year were workshops for all ages, and partnerships working on issues related to native and invasive plant species, bird and pollinator habitat, and fish passage restoration projects.

All ages are invited to a hand-on arts workshop creating paper butterfly casts with native grass seeds on Wednesday, February 13th from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. The casts will be used for an art installation restoration project at the new fish passage on Pierces Pond in Penobscot, and participants are welcome to take some home as well.

The workshop is cosponsored by the library and is free and open to all. The exhibit will be available for viewing during library hours starting February 1st. For more information, call the library at 374-5515.
