Kents Hill artist Walter Gaffney-Kessell will exhibit paintings at the Blue Hill Public Library during the month of July. The title of the show is Paintings and Drawings Closest to My Heart, and the media includes graphite, watercolor, ink and gouache. According to Walter, the show “is a culmination of paintings and drawings that are subjects nearest my heart — specifically those things that I feel connected-to emotionally and spiritually.”
Previously from Blue Hill where he and his wife raised their children, Walter is a nationally recognized, award-winning, published artist. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Paier School of Art, and spent over 20 years as a graphic designer and art director. He works with a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oil, pen and ink, gouache and egg tempera, often using a combination of these in one piece. His work hangs in public and private collections both nationally and internationally. He has also illustrated over 20 children’s books for publishers in NY and Boston.
The show will be in the library’s Britton Gallery and Roland Howard Room, available for viewing during library hours through June 27th, subject to the Howard Room schedule. For more information contact the library at 374-5515.
