DESCRIPTION:Young Artists’ Intensive\n\nMonday - Friday\, February 17 - 2
 1\, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM\n\nJoin us for five days of immersive artistic exp
 loration\, perfect for focused and creative young artists in grades 4-8 an
 d up! This hands-on workshop encourages participants to explore various me
 diums while developing their own projects.\n\nMornings begin with guided i
 nstruction from ArtWaves founder Liz Cutler\, introducing foundational tec
 hniques and creative approaches in Design\, Drawing\, Printing\, 3-D Arts\
 , and Fiber Arts. After lunch\, students can deepen their skills in the mo
 rning’s medium or revisit a project from earlier in the week.\n\nDetails
 :\n\nAll materials provided.\n\nStudents must bring lunch and snacks.\n\nN
 o before/after-care or transportation available.\n\nDay 1: Design\nExplore
  the world of design with a hands-on start to the week! After introductory
  activities and a tour of the Kaleidoscope Studio's unique materials\, stu
 dents will assemble their own art kits\, including a sketchbook\, portfoli
 o\, and apron. Using discussions and samples for inspiration\, we’ll div
 e into the possibilities of paper arts—quilling\, cutting\, origami\, po
 p-ups\, papier-mâché\, bookbinding\, and even papermaking.\n\nDay 2: Dra
 wing and Painting\nStudents will focus on the art of seeing and connecting
  eyes to hands\, experimenting with tools like kneadable erasers\, water-s
 oluble graphite\, and charcoal while practicing drawing techniques on gian
 t paper. In the afternoon\, we’ll explore color theory and experiment wi
 th watercolors\, gouache\, acrylics\, and inks on a variety of surfaces\, 
 including canvas\, wood\, and paper.\n\nDay 3: Printing\nBring design\, dr
 awing\, and painting together through the art of printing. In the morning\
 , students will create unique monoprints using gelatin and glycerin printi
 ng plates with leaves\, stencils\, and erasers. The afternoon introduces s
 urface pressing and rubber block cutting to create series prints\, with op
 portunities to incorporate skills from earlier days.\n\nDay 4: 3-D Art\nTh
 ink in dimensions! Today we’ll explore form\, function\, and space as st
 udents design and build 3-D creations\, starting with plaster-infused gauz
 e to craft unique bowls.\n\nDay 5: Fiber Arts and Exhibit\nDiscover the di
 verse possibilities of fiber arts! Students will sample weaving\, wet felt
 ing\, needle felting\, and embellishment techniques with embroidery or bea
 ds. The afternoon offers open studio time for free-choice projects\, allow
 ing students to showcase their creativity across media. The day concludes 
 with a family exhibit at pick-up time to celebrate the week's creations.
