DESCRIPTION:On January 21st at 7 pm\, the Halcyon Grange is hosting Maine p
 omologist\, John Bunker\, for the second talk in our winter educational se
 ries.\n\nKnown to many as the 'apple whisperer' and as a self-described fr
 uit-explorer\, John Bunker has criss-crossed the state of Maine looking up
  old-timers who might have an interesting tree or a bit of information abo
 ut a lost variety of apple. He tracks down rare and unusual fruit varietie
 s to save and reintroduce in Maine. In 1984 he started Fedco Trees and has
  served as President of the Board at the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardene
 rs Association (MOFGA)\, where he continues to serve as a board member and
  is the founder of MOFGA’s Maine Heritage Orchard. He is the author of 
 “Not Far From the Tree”\, a book outlining the history of apples in Pa
 lermo\, Maine and is a graduate of Colby College.\n\nMr. Bunker's breadth 
 of knowledge spans the history of apples in Maine\, his adventures trackin
 g down\, identifying and preserving rare historic varieties\, the renaissa
 nce of the hard cider industry\, and establishing the Maine Heritage Orcha
 rd in Unity.\n\nThis free program if sponsored by the Halcyon Grange locat
 ed at 1157 Pleasant St. in North Blue Hill. The grange will provide light
