DESCRIPTION:MERI welcomes everyone to come learn about the Institute's exci
 ting new projects. Please join us at our Open House   Founder/ Director 
 Dr. Susan Shaw will present an overview of current research initiatives in
 cluding our collaborative project with Sweden looking at ocean sustainabil
 ity from the perspective of top predator marine mammals. This is a worldwi
 de study of the converging stresses of pollution and climate change on mar
 ine mammals from the Baltic\, US Atlantic\, Greenland and Iceland.\n\nMari
 ne Research Coordinator Madelyn Woods will report on the Institute's resea
 rch with Bigelow Laboratory on microplastics in seafood and on beach bacte
 ria monitoring. After last year's high bacteria levels at popular beaches\
 , this will be an opportunity to answer questions about our monitoring and
  data reporting to the community. \n\nAll lectures are free and open to t
