In this hands-on creative art class, we will learn how to twine to make cordage using a technique that goes back at least 50,000 years, predating pottery. Using your own recycled fibers, we will practice techniques used by indigenous cultures worldwide that are still used today to create vessels, baskets, string, rope, bags, fishing nets, sculptures, textiles and many other items. The class goal will be to create your own unique twined vessel.
Warning: The art of twining is a slow and fun practice that you can take anywhere with you; but the repetition of the movement of hand and fiber is meditative and very addictive! Join us in this fun ancient practice. No prior knowledge in twining is expected and plenty go supplies available as well.! 14-Adult
