SUMMARY:Techniques for Felt Jewelry
DESCRIPTION: In this workshop we will explore several techniques to use fel
 t as a central element for jewelry design. We will learn about needle felt
 ing\, building structures with flat felt\, and basic embroidery. We will a
 lso explore how to incorporate findings and hardware to make pieces that a
 re ready for wear. Students will be encouraged to experiment with color\, 
 volume\, and texture to find their personal style within this playful medi
 um. Each participant can expect to leave with multiple finished works and 
 the knowledge to build an ongoing wardrobe of fiber-based glam. All is inc

 instructor\, is an artist and educator based in Stonington\, Maine. She ho
 lds a BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Maine College of Art\, 
 and is the Fab Lab Coordinator at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.Her p
 assion lies with experimenting with new materials\, techniques\, and proce
 sses\, and blending old and new types of making. She has taught students o
 f all ages on topics ranging from molding and casting to knot making\, fro
 m digital fabrication to historic techniques. She has been an artist in re
 sidence at Pocosin Arts in North Carolina\, The Possible Zone in Massachus
 etts\, and The Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Pemaquid\, Maine.
