On Saturday, January 26th at 6:00 PM the Blue Hill Public Library will hold a “Robert Burns Night” in honor of the Scottish poet and lyricist, born January 25, 1759. The evening will feature performances by local musicians and the Blue Hill Scottish Dance group, as well as readings of Burns’ verse by any who would like to participate.
Burns Night is traditionally celebrated on Burns’s birthday, 25 January, with events around the world, and is especially widely observed in Scotland. The basic format usually involves toasts, songs, and recitations and concludes with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” This event is sponsored by the Blue Hill Public Library, it is free and everyone is welcome.
