DESCRIPTION:New members are invited to the Blue Hill Public Library’s mon
 thly discussion group\, “Readings on Race\,” on Saturday January 26th\
 , from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The group will be discussing the book Braiding Swe
 etgrass: Indigenous Wisdom\, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Pla
 nts\, by Robin Wall Kimmerer.\n\nIn the book Kimmerer presents the argumen
 t\, “that the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the
  acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the re
 st of the living world. For only when we can hear the languages of other b
 eings will we be capable of understanding the generosity of the earth\, an
 d learn to give our own gifts in return.”\n\nSurry resident Kate Mrozick
 i facilitates the group. Kate is a farmer who believes in the power of dif
 ficult conversations to change our reality. She got to practice those conv
 ersations during years of working for The Food Project in Boston and now r
 aising small children in Surry. This event is free and everyone is welcome
