SUMMARY:“Paint the Peninsula” Fresh Paint Fundraiser for the Blue Hill
 Public Library
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Hill Peninsula\, home to some of the most iconic views
in the state\, will be rendered in paint\, pencil\, and pastel by over 80
local artists on the morning of Saturday\, July 14th during Paint the Pen
insula\, the Blue Hill Public Library’s fresh paint fundraiser. Later th
at evening\, more than 100 original works of art will be sold to benefit t
he library at a reception and silent auction from 4:30-7:00 PM. Paint the
Peninsula is made possible with support from many local sponsors\, includi
ng lead sponsor Merle B. Grindle Agency of Blue Hill.\n\nThe resulting exh
ibition is a celebration of both the area and the artists who live here. I
t is rare to have so many artists—from young\, emerging talent to some o
f the region’s most celebrated painters—gather under one roof to show
and sell their work. Opening bids range from $50-$600\, making Paint the P
eninsula a great opportunity to start buying local art or to add to an est
ablished collection. Most artists donate 50% of the sale to the library an
d some do more\, so winning bids support both the library and the local ar
ts community.\n\nRegistration is now open for artists who want to join in.
Please sign up soon if you would like to participate this year. Registrat
ion will close on July 10\, or when we have 90 artists signed up\, whichev
er comes first.\n\nThe Blue Hill Public Library is an independent non-prof
it organization serving everyone on the Blue Hill Peninsula\, and it depen
ds on the financial support of the local community. The event will feature
wine\, refreshments by La Mason\, and live music by Lock Box Trio\, featu
ring GSA alumni Yvonne Rogers and Joseph Boulet. Tickets are available at
the library before July 14th for $12\, or on the day of the event for $15.
Children and participating artists are free. For more information\, call
 the library at 374-5515.
