Join Blue Hill Heritage Trust and Mushroom Expert David Porter for a mushroom identification walk at Hundred Acre Wood in Brooklin! September is a fine time for mushroom exploration in a mixed forest environment. Different species of mushrooms are typically associated with different tree species and a diversity of habitats along the accessible trail at 100 Acre Woods will offer participants an opportunity to find numerous kinds of mushrooms and explore their various roles in the environment. There will be decomposers in the forest litter and woody debris, parasitic mushrooms on various vegetation and symbiotic mushrooms associated with the roots of trees and shrubs as mycorrhizae. This event will frun from 10am-noon. Please bring water, snacks and footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather.
