SUMMARY:Monthly “Fixit” Clinic at the Blue Hill Library
DESCRIPTION:In the spirit of reducing waste and helping the community learn
  new skills\, the Blue Hill Public Library will host a monthly "Fixit Clin
 ic" on the first Saturday of the month\, starting November 3rd. The idea i
 s for local experts to coach people in the community on how to disassemble
  and troubleshoot a variety of items\, such as appliances\, bicycles\, jew
 elry\, clothing\, toys\, electronics and\, well\, whatever!\n\nMany people
  have never attempted repair\, and some may not have the necessary tools. 
 The library’s Fixit Coaches will have tools on hand\, and will help guid
 e participants through the processes of basic disassembly\, troubleshootin
 g\, and repair. The hope is that people will learn critical thinking throu
 gh the lens of society’s relationship to consumption and sustainability.
 \n\nParticipants will be expected to actively participate in the disassemb
 ly\, troubleshooting\, and repair of their items so that they can leave fu
 lly empowered to share new-found skills and insights with friends\, neighb
 ors\, and the community at large. Repair is not assured\; while coaches wi
 ll do their best to help\, any specific item can have issues that make it 
 unrepairable or efforts can exacerbate the problem during attempts to repa
 ir it.\n\nParticipants are asked to register via a linked form on the libr
 ary’s web calendar at www.bhpl.net so that the library can try to have t
