SUMMARY:Make and Take\, Pastels on Velvet paper
DESCRIPTION:In this engaging two-hour workshop\, students will explore the 
 expressive possibilities of soft pastels through bold\, gestural mark-maki
 ng. Using the innovative Mi-Teintes Velvet paper—known for its uniquely 
 textured surface—participants will create a dynamic landscape full of mo
 vement\, color\, and depth and bring home a 9 x 12 pastel painting.\n\nThi
 s distinctive paper allows for rich layering\, holding multiple applicatio
 ns of pigment without the need for fixative or concern about dusting. Stud
 ents will experiment with building atmosphere\, blending\, and mark variat
 ion while gaining confidence in a more intuitive\, less controlled approac
 h to landscape drawing.\nRainey is an artist/art educator living in San An
 tonio\, TX. She has been exhibiting work since 1995. In 2006 she establish
 ed House Paint Art Studio where she teaches both oil and pastel painting.
