A choice selection of art-19/20th century including art from Serge Liros’s private collection.
Featuring watercolors by George Daniell, 1911-2002. He was a photographer and artist who was a good friend of John Marin’s and later lived in Trenton, Maine. He photographed celebrities such as, Georgia O’Keefe, John Marin, Marilyn Monroe and many others.
Carroll Thayer Berry, 1886-1978, is mostly known for his wood engravings of the coast of Maine. He lived in Rockport, Maine where he had a studio. Downeast Magazine featured his work in the early 60’ Liros Gallery and had a important show of his work several years ago. He developed a Chiaroscuro technique where he used a second linocut for a multicolor effect. In 1983, Elwyn Dearborn published a catalogue raisonne^ of his wood engravings.
