The Blue Hill Public Library invites kids to join the “Inklings” book and movie club on Saturday, July 28th at 2:00 PM. Inklings explores stories of clever children who use their wits to overcome insurmountable odds. This month’s book is The Lightning Thief, from the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, by Rick Riordan. The group will discuss the book and then watch the film of the same name.

In the story, Percy Jackson’s mother sends him to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends, Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods. Come spend some time at Camp Half Blood! We will make ambrosia & nectar, have some fun giveaways, and there may even be a few blue snacks just like Percy and his mom make.

Inklings welcomes kids of all ages. The books and movies we read and watch together cover a wide range of subjects and styles, and we encourage families to research them in advance and decide which are right for you and your child.
