SUMMARY:Hunter Firearm Safety Course at the  Blue Hill Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Blue Hill Public Library will again be hosting the Maine Depart
 ment of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s Firearms Safety Course for hunte
 rs. There are two options for participants\, either: 1) attend both schedu
 led sessions at the library\, Wednesday\, October 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p
 m and Sunday\, October 21st from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm\, and complete home-st
 udy work between the two meetings or 2) complete an online course instead 
 of attending the October 10th meeting\, and attend in-person for the secon
 d full-day session held on October 21st.\n\nCompleting all the requirement
 s takes at least 12 hours\, although many will average more. The course co
 vers the basics of safe firearms handling\, responsible hunting practices 
 and Maine’s hunting regulations. Proof of having taken the course must b
 e shown with all first-time license applications. Participants must be at 
 least 10 years of age and all minors will be required to have a signed par
 ental consent form\, available at the first session. The course is free.\n
 \nRegistration is required and can be done through the library’s events 
 calendar (all must register on the October 10th calendar item\, even if do
 ing the online course\,) at www.bhpl.net\, or by calling the library at 37
