DESCRIPTION:Hand Sewn Mug Rug\n\nSaturday\, March 29\, 3 - 6 PM in the Kale
 idoscope Studio. \n\nCreate your own hand-sewn mug rug to keep your bevera
 ges warm! This class will offer the basics of hand sewing and embroidery t
 echniques to create a small\, quilted mug rug using various fibers and thr
 ead. Participants will choose colors\, patterns\, and palettes to form a c
 ohesive piece which can be enjoyed for years to come. Emphasis will be giv
 en to the importance of creative play\, rest\, and slowness.\n\n\n\nPerson
 al fabric stashes and threads are welcome\, however\, all materials are pr
 ovided. No experience with any techniques is necessary to join!\n\n\n\n\n\
 nAbout the Instructor:  Katama Murray (she/her) is an artist\, educator\, 
 naturalist\, and small business owner from the Blue Hill peninsula now res
 iding in Deer Isle\, Maine. Her mixed media work and company\, Teach Peace
  Prints\, are inspired by place-based making and our interconnectedness to
  the environment. While living and studying throughout regions of New Engl
 and and the Midwest\, she has always been influenced by the outdoors and t
 he ways in which we coexist with the natural world. Utilizing locally fora
 ged natural materials\, she layers print and fiber processes to visually c
 ommunicate ideas\, observations\, and perpetual experimentation. Through h
 ands-on techniques\, Katama teaches regional workshops focused on mixed me
 dia methods that encourage exploration and foster life-long learning. Kata
 ma is also the Handworks Teacher teacher at The Bay School and Visual Arts
  Educator at the Blue Hill Harbor School. With a passion for multidiscipli
 nary making\, she enjoys inspiring others to become more connected to the 
 earth through the power of art and community.
