After the successes of this offering last summer and fall, the Blue Hill Public Library will again host a “Drop-In Genealogy Help Desk” twice per month in January and February in the library’s main room next to the reference desk. If there is enough interest, Genealogy Help Desk may continue after that. Currently scheduled dates are Saturdays, Jan. 5 and 19, and February 9 and 23, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Local expert Liffey Thorpe will be on hand to answer questions from the public on library and online resources for doing genealogy research. She will also offer advice on particular issues or “brick walls.” Participants are encouraged to come with focused questions.
Liffey Thorpe has been doing genealogy for many years. She has taken courses at Boston University and Salt Lake Community College. She recently received certification from the Board for Certification of Genealogists in Washington, D.C. She holds a doctorate in Classics from Stanford University.
