Calling all banjo enthusiasts! Join the charismatic songster and modern-day bluesman, Jerron Paxton, along with local favorites, John Gawler and Bennett Konesni, for an afternoon banjo workshop.
Brought to America by enslaved Africans, the banjo became popular with European immigrants, creating several banjo traditions that are uniquely American, from clawhammer to two-finger, three-finger, jazz, and ragtime styles. Here is a rare chance to see and hear different types of banjos and learn more about how they are traditionally played.
Bring your own banjo and learn a tune or two, or try out some banjos that will be on site.
