DESCRIPTION:The Bagaduce Music Lending Library is pleased to welcome Ralitz
 a Patcheva and Vasily Popov for a free concert of classical music on Thurs
 day\, August 11\, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. The program will include selections f
 rom Vivaldi\, Beethoven\, Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla.\n\nThe lunchtime conc
 ert will take place at the BMLL Performance Hall\, 49 South Street in Blue
  Hill\, Maine and begin at 12:30p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring along 
 a brownbag lunch for the event that will last approximately one hour. Ther
 e will be no charge for the performance but donations are welcome. Contact

 rmation.\n\nVasily Popov was born in St. Petersburg\, Russia into a musica
 l family\, and started playing the cello at the age of seven. Vasily was a
 n associate principal cellist with the Soloists of St. Petersburg chamber 
 ensemble\, the chamber orchestra founded by violinist Michael Gantwarg\, a
 nd in the cello section of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under
  Maestro Yuri Temirkanov. He served on the cello faculty of the St. Peters
 burg Conservatory\, helping the students to work on orchestral excerpts. I
 n 2000 he moved to Germany to complete his Artist Diploma at the Munich Ac
 ademy of Music.\n\nBulgarian pianist Ralitza Patcheva has won prizes at th
 e International Busoni Competition in Italy\, the Washington International
  Piano Competition\, and the NSO Young Soloists Competition. Known for adv
 enturous programming\, she gives historically informed and sincere reading
 s of early to modern music\, including works by composers of our time (som
 e of them commissioned by and dedicated to her). Her newest project\, "A R
 oom with a Symphony\," focuses on the neglected art of symphonic solo pian
 o transcriptions. Ralitza has been a soloist with the National Symphony\, 
 the Jenaer Philharmonie\, and the Haydn Orchestra\, among others. She has 
 presented recitals at Carnegie Hall\, the Kennedy Center\, the Phillips Co
 llection\, the Aldeburgh Festival in England\, the Washington Internationa
 l Piano Series and Festival\, the Villa Musica Foundation in Germany\, and
  the Holland Music Session.
