SUMMARY:Fit to a T: A Talk on Osteoporosis Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Blue Hill Public Library will host a presentation on Tuesday\, 
 October 16th at 4:00 PM by local physical therapist Joanne MacPherson\, "F
 it to a T\," about osteoporosis and how to maintain your bone health. The 
 program is supplied and organized by the United States Bone and Joint Init
 iative\, a group of organizations engaged in developing new research and e
 ducation programs that will bring about significant advances in the knowle
 dge\, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.\n\nParticipan
 ts will learn about the prevention\, early detection\, diagnosis\, and tre
 atment of osteoporosis. Though relevant to all ages\, Fit to a T is aimed 
 at men and women in their mid-40s to late 60s\, as well as seniors and oth
 ers who have had\, or are at risk of having\, a broken bone. The program i
 s called Fit to a T because the T-score is a measure of a person’s bone 
 density and an estimate of their risk of breaking a bone.\n\nJoanne MacPhe
 rson is a physical therapist at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital with a speci
 al interest in osteoporosis prevention and management. She is the Maine am
 bassador for the National Osteoporosis Foundation. She hopes that public e
 ducation programs like this one will help reduce the 2 million fractures c
 aused annually by osteoporosis.\n\nThis event is sponsored by the library\
