SUMMARY:Firearms Hunter Safety Course
DESCRIPTION:A Firearms Hunter Safety Course will be hosted by the Blue Hill
  Heritage Trust. This\ncourse will be offered as an Online Course with an 
 in-person Field Day.\nThis is the Maine Department of Fish and Wildlife Ce
 rtified Hunter Safety Program.\nStudents complete the online course prior 
 to attending an in-person Field Day. The\nField Day involves discussions a
 nd demonstrations by instructors during class and field\nexperiences. This
  class is offered for anyone applying for a hunting license for the first\
 ntime\, or also as a “brush up” course.\nThere are two (2) parts to th
 e course:\nPart 1 has two options:\nStudents can complete the Online Cours
 e at hunter-ed.com/maine. The cost to register\nfor the online course is $
 24.95. Upon successful completion of the online course\,\nstudents can use
  their course completion voucher.\nPart 2:\nField Day skills and exam sess
 ion. Students must complete the Online section (above)\nprior to the Field
  Day. Volunteer instructors provide valuable information to new hunters\ni
 ncluding insight into the sport of hunting\, resources and support. In-per
 son courses\nprovide students with the opportunity to ask questions of ins
 tructors and gain further\nguidance. The Field Day includes instruction an
 d practical exercises in: Survival/first\naid\, Landowner relations\, Hunt
 er ethics\, Maine hunting laws\, safe firearms handling\,\nmap and compass
 \, and outdoor survival.\nAt the Field Day\, students must demonstrate to 
 the instructor that they can safely\nhandle a firearm\, and must participa
 te in workshop and session activities\, bring a\nsurvival kit and pass a 5
 0-question exam with a score of at least 70%.\n\nThe Field Day will be hel
 d at Craig Brook Fish Hatchery on October 19th 8:30am-\n4:30pm.\n\nPartici
 pants must be at least 10 years of age and all minors will be required to 
 have a\nsigned parental consent form at the Field Day session. Individuals
  that are 16 years or\nyounger are required to complete both sections of t
