SUMMARY:Deer Isle-Stonington Improves their World
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the coming warmer weather\, the Deer Isle-Sto
 nington communities will come together to “improve their worlds” on Sa
 turday\, April 16 beginning at 10:30a.m. Citizens will focus on beautifyin
 g their own dooryards\, local playgrounds\, and Stonington’s Main Street
 \, as well as take part in many family-friendly activities.\n\nThe day wil
 l begin at 10:30a.m. with a clean-up at the School Street playground. Adul
 ts and children alike are welcome to pitch in. For those families with chi
 ldren too young to help\, the Stonington Opera House will be offering acti
 vities including cookie decorating\, coloring and more.\n\nFrom 11:00 – 
 11:45a.m. the Island Community Center will host a paper hat making class. 
 Following this\, there will be a free pizza lunch\, courtesy of the Island
  Employee Cooperative.\n\nAt 12:30p.m. the action moves over to the Opera 
 House with a dance lesson from Sue Senecal of Sue’s School of Dance. Com
 munity members of all ages are welcome to learn a fun short dance to accom
 pany one of the songs from the afternoon movie.\n\nOpera House Arts and th
 e Island Nursing Home will offer a free screening of Disney classic Newsie
 s at 1:00p.m. All are encouraged to sing and dance along with Jack “Cowb
 oy” Kelly and his fellow newsboys as they fight against the harsh rules
